Growing up comes with unique emotional and behavioral challenges. Therapy can provide the support kids and teens need to manage emotions, and develop critical life skills. When children feel better, they do better.
Children process emotions differently than adults, so I tailor my approach to meet their unique needs. I create a supportive environment where children and teens can express themselves, gain confidence, and meet life’s challenges.

Benefits of Therapy:
When we’re young, many images, thoughts, and experiences make an impact, and these tend to stay with us throughout life. Some of these things can even affect how we’re able to meet life and persevere through adulthood. Therapy helps children and teens understand complex emotions and develop healthy coping strategies for life’s challenges
Learning how to manage emotions
Therapy helps children recognize and express emotions in a healthy, constructive way so they can feel more in control of their reactions.

Q&A
-
If your child is struggling with emotions, behavior, or social situations in a way that affects their daily life, therapy may help. Common signs include persistent sadness, anxiety, outbursts, trouble in school, or difficulty making friends.
-
That’s completely normal! I use age-appropriate techniques like play therapy, art, and storytelling to help children and teens express their feelings in ways that feel natural and comfortable.
-
Parents are an important part of the process. If your child is under the age of 13, I would like to meet with you for the first half of the intake session. This helps me learn more about your concerns, family dynamics, and child’s history. For the second half of the session, your child and I will have a chance to get to know each other. This is also a good time for children/teens to ask me anything they’d like to know.
Depending on the child’s needs, I may provide parent coaching, communication strategies, and tools to reinforce progress at home.
-
Keep it simple and positive! Let them know they’ll be talking with someone who helps kids feel better and work through challenges. Avoid making therapy feel like a punishment or something to “fix” them.
-
It is my belief that client/therapist confidentiality is extremely important in building trust and rapport with your child. I will ALWAYS let you know if your child is expressing anything that concerns their safety. I will also check in with you periodically to update you on general themes that your child is presenting in therapy and provide you with suggestions on how you can support your child at home.
